I chose the title The Treasure Trove for a number of reasons. I believe that life is a journey upon which one traverses many paths, wherein we embrace joy and somehow endure even the deepest of pain (most times); all the while, hopefully, remembering to treasure oneself (as is my mother’s motto).IMG_0980_2

In the midst of it all, we must also attempt to treat others as they want/need to be treated, Just as parents might treat their children differently from one another according to their temperament. (So this means that I do not necessarily follow The Golden Rule!)

As with any treasure – think of a treasure chestThe Treasure Trove expects that the reader will find a piece of gold or a gem to pocket here and there. I (or we as the case may turn out to be) may be seen at times to be meandering along an unseen path, and that is okay.

And it is with these thoughts that the words of Tolkien come to mind:

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
This quote by Tolkien holds so much truth in it. Books, you will find, are one of my passions (although not necessarily those of this particular genre).

Beyond seeking more than what I can see… I have always enjoyed discovering and learning new things, whether it be by immersing myself in a book, a culture, or a classroom. I enjoy archives, libraries, museums, and have a heart for community outreach and organ donation.  As for my family, we have slowly been working toward eating a cleaner, healthier, GMO-free diet this year. And recently I have become very interested in home schooling, as my son is now a toddler preschool-er and I want to ensure his inquiring mind is soaking up everything that he is hoping it will!

Expect to find articles by me, re-blogs, links, posts, pictures, and guest blogs about these topics and more. I also have links to blogs I like on the left-hand side of the home-page.

  1. I love the title of this blog….need to change mine to a more catchy title…but don’t have a clue how to change it…lol…such a learning process on here. My youngest is really into pirates right now so your title makes me smile.

    • I completely understand going through the learning process; I had to go through pretty much all the options just to change my profile photo last week! 🙂

      Glad you (or your little one) like my title! I don’t see anything wrong with yours at all! After all, we are all reaching out to a specific community or ‘advertising,’ if you will, a certain focus.

      Unfortunately, my focus is very broad and changing… or, maybe my title allows for that, ha! I do keep tweaking the ‘about’ page, when I can find it!

  2. I’ve nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. Yay you! The award is on my blog:

    • Thank you so much! I kept seeing others get nominated and I just thought it was to get the person to “follow” their blog. But since I already follow you, I know this is not one of those thing. 🙂 Congrats to you, too! I enjoy your site.

  3. ha ha me and my short stigma! as high as they wanted, doncha know! 😉 Or have you not met my parents???

  4. How high did you jump?
